Court Appointed Special Advocate recruits, trains, and supervises volunteers in the community to serve as special advocates representing the best interests of abused and neglected children in the foster care system. Through court-ordered appointment, a CASA provides the appointing judge with the carefully researched background of the child to help the court make a sound decision about the child’s future. The CASA Volunteer is the one consistent individual in the child’s life. The CASA makes a recommendation on placement to the judge, monitors compliance with court orders, and follows through on the case until it is permanently resolved.
